NAIROBI, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's Harambee Stars travel to Madrid on Saturday to take on Democratic Republic of Congo in their last friendly before heading to Cairo for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament that starts on June 21.

Head coach Sebastian Migne seeks to build on his narrow 1-0 win over Madagascar in Paris last week to try out new playing patterns and formation after one-week training.

Beijing Rehne striker Ayub Timbe had his first competitive game under coach Migne last week and has impressed.

"It was the first call up for Ayub Timbe and John Avire was also making his debut in the team. These two have not played together with the rest of the team and am happy that we were able to rectify everything in the second half," Migne said Thursday.

The coach is ruing the injury of Sweden based Chris Mbamba and Brian Mandela, who were axed in his final 23-member team for the tournament.

"It requires counseling the players. But it is important to have a harmonious team and we need to have competition in the team," said Migne.

"The important thing is to remain in focus to the game against Algeria in the AFCON. I don't not want to take risks with Mandela injured on Musa Mohammed. But we need to dominate the midfield."

Migne will use the Democratic Republic of Congo game to test out new formation.

Kenya have been drawn into Group C alongside Algeria, Senegal and Tanzania. Enditem
