ISLAMABAD, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- The Pakistani military said at least one civilian was seriously injured in Indian forces' firing along the working boundary in Punjab province.

"A civilian Muhammad Hanif, who was farming in the fields, was seriously injured due to unprovoked firing by Indian Border Security Forces in village Sukhial in Sialkot sector today," the military said in a statement late Thursday.

The injured civilian was immediately evacuated to a military hospital in Sialkot, the statement from the army's media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations said.

The statement said a Flag Meeting has been demanded by the Pakistan paramilitary troops Rangers to protest against "unprovoked" Indian firing on innocent civilian and ceasefire violation along the Working Boundary.

Pakistan and India had declared ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir and the working boundary in 2003. Both, however, routinely accuse each other of violating the ceasefire.

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sept. 11 that the Indian Forces have carried out more than 2,050 "ceasefire violations" along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary, resulting in the deaths of 33 innocent civilians, while injuring 122 others.

"This unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India is continuing from the year 2017 when the Indian forces committed 1970 ceasefire violations," said the statement.
