BERLIN, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Borussia Monchengladbach move on the second place after cruising 3-0 past defending champions Bayern Munich on the road at the 7th round in Bundesliga on Saturday.

Relentless "Foals" worsen Bayern's situation after inflicting the German giants their second defeat and extending their winless streak to four games in all competitions.

The "Bavarians" grabbed the worst possible start on home soil as offensively minded and aggressive visitors opened the scoring with ten minutes played when summer signing Alassane Plea unleashed a well-placed low shot to beat Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer into the far post bottom corner.

Bayern wobbled meanwhile Monchengladbach gained momentum to double the lead only six minutes later as Mats Hummels lost possession to Lars Stindl, who made no mistake to slot home from the edge of the box to flabbergast the hosts.

After the restart, Robert Kovac's men assumed control but lacked in ideas to overcome Monchengladbach's well-positioned defense. Robert Lewandowski's goal was ruled off while Thiago Alcantara and Franck Ribery came close.

Nevertheless, clinical Monchengladbach showed no mercy and sealed the deal in the closing period as Patrick Herrmann poked home a corner kick from Christoph Kramer.

With the surprising defeat, Bayern Munich slipped from the 3rd to the 5th spot meanwhile Borussia Monchengladbach jumped from the 5th to the 2nd place in the standings.

"We staged a very good team performance and prevented Bayern from gaining a foothold into the game. We scored two quick goals and gave Bayern a tough time," Monchengladbach's head coach Dieter Hecking said.

"We grabbed a good start into the clash but two early goals shocked us. We make too many mistakes, which get immediately punished on this level. We are currently too unsettled to respond to setbacks," Bayern's head coach Niko Kovac said.

The following fixtures conclude the 7th round in Bundesliga on Sunday. Freiburg host Bayer Leverkusen, Hoffenheim face Eintracht Frankfurt and Leipzig see newly promoted Nuremberg.
