JERUSALEM, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- An Israeli start-up has developed an artificial intelligence (AI) technology that will save people's lives when they are injured in car accidents, said a report by the Hebrew-language website Ynet on Friday.

MDgo, a company based in the northern city of Haifa, has developed a technology that quickly identifies, through sensors, the occurrence of an accident, quickly defines the condition of the wounded, and then reports to emergency services and hospitals.

In this way, the medical teams can prepare for proper treatment, saving hours by unnecessary checks or evacuation to an unsuitable hospital.

According to European Union figures, 40 percent of road accidents victims could have been saved if they were evacuated in advance to the hospital by knowing the type of injury.

In addition, 32 percent of the moderately and severely injured have evacuated to a hospital that is less suitable for the specific injury.

In Israel, it takes an average of more than four hours to transfer a wounded person to another hospital which specialized in his type of injury. In addition, 50 percent of the injured are taken in an ambulance lacking the suitable equipment and team's expertise.

The company is supposed to solve these critical problems. It is currently being tested on 250,000 cars in Israel, in cooperation with the state's main emergency services.

During the trial, the average time taken to evacuate the wounded to the hospital was reduced to 3.5 minutes, compared with the average of 13 minutes currently in Israel.

The technology may also save money by shortening the time of treatment and unnecessary ambulance uses.
