KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia will provide greater assistance to tourists from China to enhance their experience in the country, a senior Malaysian official said Wednesday, as many Chinese tourists are travelling overseas during the upcoming National Day holiday.

The Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Malaysia's major gateway, will add more staff to provide assistance to Chinese travelers, while assigning volunteers who can speaks Chinese, said Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook.

The airport will also continue to provide space for the Chinese tourists help desk, which was jointly set up by the Chinese embassy in Malaysia with the cooperation of Malaysian authorities and Malaysia China Welfare Advisory Society, said Loke at the launching ceremony of Guidebook for Consular Protection and Assistance for Chinese Travelers in Malaysia by the Chinese embassy.

These measures will better facilitate the Chinese tourists and provide better experience to them, said Loke, adding that he hope more Chinese will visit Malaysia during the upcoming golden-week holiday.

Tourism could help strengthen the bilateral relations between Malaysia and China, said Loke.

"I hope we can continue to flourish our relationship and to strengthen our Malaysian-China friendship," he said. "We are confident that relationship between both countries will continue to strengthen under the new government, and this will bring the two countries together and more importantly, to bring the people of the two countries together."

Concurring with Loke, Chinese Ambassador Bai Tian mentioned that during the recent visit by Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad to China, both countries agreed to designate the year 2020 as Malaysia-China Cultural Tourism Year in a bid to strengthen people-to-people ties.

Some 3 million of Chinese tourists are expected to visit Malaysia this year, attracted by the beautiful scenery, delicious food and wonderful culture, said Bai.?
