PARIS, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Marseille moved up to second after crushing bottom side Guingamp 4-0 at home in the fifth round match of Ligue 1 on Sunday.

The lop-sided victory was made sweeter by Dimitri Payet's second-half stunner. Florian Thauvin scored a brace, and Kostas Mitroglou capped Marseille's scoring display.

Following a goalless first half, Marseille went ahead in the 57th minute, as Thauvin rose highest to head the ball over goalkeeper Karl-Johan Johnsson.

That was followed by Payet's spectacular volley outside the box with 17 minutes from time.

Thauvin brought his tally of the season to five goals with a curling effort into the corner in the 80th minute.

Three minutes later, Payet became a provider for Mitroglou, and the Greek forward didn't waste the glorious chance to round out the four-goal triumph with a tap-in.

Marseille claim the second place from Lille on goal difference. Both teams see themselves five points away from leaders Paris Saint-Germain, who won as many as five matches this term.

Guingamp, however, were restrained to the bottom position after losing all five matches in the campaign.

Bordeaux and Nimes shared points in a six-goal thriller, seeing Bordeaux continue their woeful start and sit second-bottom at the table.

Nantes and Reims finished a goalless draw in the other duel on Sunday.?
