VORU, Estonia, July 8 (Xinhua) -- Artists from Yunnan province in southwestern China on Sunday presented colorful performance for "A Day of Chinese Folklore" at the final day of the Voru Folklore Festival in Southeastern Estonia.

Folk music, dances, costume and food of the Chinese ethnic minorities attracted scores of local residents of the Voru city, capital of the Voru County, to indulge themselves in the Chinese culture heritage and the quiz about China.

Heiki Kelp, director of the Voru Cultural Center Kannel, who introduced the Chinese food and lifestyle, told Xinhua that "The Chinese artists are professional with the high level performance, and we would like to bring more and more Chinese ethnic minorities culture to the stage abroad. "

Anti Allas, mayor of Voru Town Government, told Xinhua that "We are very proud to have such a big Chinese artists group to come to this year's Voru Folklore Festival. We are enjoying their performance".

Sixten Sild, deputy mayor in charge of culture, education and social affairs, also spoke highly of the exotic Chinese culture, meanwhile expecting the culture exchange will promote business opportunities for Chinese investment to develop high-quality food, clean water and other good produce in Voru.

Wu Yan, Chinese economic and commercial counsellor in Estonia, thanked the Chinese artists for their wonderful performance, noting that "Estonia is an important country in the Baltic region as a member state of the European Union and the NATO, Estonia also joined the Euro area. There is great potential for cooperation between China and Estonia".

Jin Xiaofeng, head of the Yunnan art troupe, told Xinhua that the performance was welcomed by the audience during the troupe's tour in central and eastern Europe, which is helpful to enhance the foreigners' knowledge about China, especially the Chinese ethnic minorities.

Anu Koop, an organizing staff of the festival, also praised the high-quality and interesting performance of the Chinese artists after a long-distance trip, expressing the happiness to have Yunnan Jin Xiaofeng Art Troupe in the festival.

A closing concert in the evening is scheduled to end the 24th Voru Folklore Festival, which attracted four foreign groups from China, Austria, Uzbekistan and South Korea, as well as 14 Estonian groups in the four-day festival starting from July 5, which is supported by the Estonian Ministry of Culture.
