CAIRO, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said on Thursday looking forward to breaking the current stalled state of the political path in Syria, official news agency MENA reported.

He urged all the parties to support the Syrian negotiation committee as a representative for the opposition to Geneva talks.

His remarks came during his meeting in Cairo with the visiting delegation that is formed of different Syrian opposition groups. They discussed the recent developments in the war-torn country and forming a committee for drafting the constitution.

Shoukry stressed Egypt's stand that supports the political solution in Syria to maintain its unity and safety, the report added.

"The political solution is the only way for the Syrian crisis, and it must be implemented via Syrian-Syrian talks without foreign intervention," Shoukry added.

The delegation expressed concerns over the military escalation in the southern parts of Syria which has negative impacts on the coming negotiations.

On May 26, the Syrian Foreign Ministry sent the name list of the government delegation for the constitutional committee in the UN.

The Syrian government said the constitutional committee should include representatives from the government and opposition figures who attended the latest round of Syrian talks in Sochi earlier this year, in order to review the current constitution and propose new amendments.

However, Staffan de Mistura, the UN envoy to Syria, was said to have been mulling a list including rebel groups that didn't attend the previous Sochi talks.
