Singapore police arrest flight passenger for bomb hoax

SINGAPORE, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Singapore Police Force said on Thursday evening that a 41-year-old man aboard a flight was arrested for making a false bomb threat.

The arrested was a passenger onboard flight TR634 from Singaporean low-cost long-haul airline Scoot. His false alert caused the flight to return to Singapore's Changi Airport on Thursday afternoon while heading for Hat Yai, Thailand.

The police said they have checked the plane and the baggage of the passenger that alleged the bomb threat and his two travelling companions, and found no threat.

The police confirmed in the afternoon that a report was received regarding an alleged bomb threat made by a passenger onboard the flight.

Singapore's Defense Minister Ng Eng Hen said in his Facebook post that two of Singapore air force's F-15SGs took off within minutes when the pilot of the Scoot plane declared a bomb threat and escorted the passenger plane back.

According to the police, all passengers and crew from the flight disembarked safely when the plane landed.
