PYONGYANG, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- The official media of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Sunday hailed the visit by the country's high-ranking delegation to the ongoing PyeongChang Winter Olympics in South Korea.

Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly and also head of the delegation, attended the opening ceremony of the 23rd Winter Olympics and met with South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Saturday in the presidential Blue House in Seoul.

The DPRK delegation also included Kim Yo Jong, the top DPRK leader Kim Jong Un's younger sister who serves as the first vice director of the Central Committee of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Sunday reported the match of women's ice hockey between the joint team of the DPRK and South Korea, and the Swiss team held Saturday night.

"The appearance of the players and the impressive picture of the cheering groups once again made the spectators feel keenly that the Korean nation is a homogeneous nation which can't live separated from each other," said the KCNA.

Commenting on the meeting between Moon Jae-in and the delegation, the KCNA said the atmosphere was "sincere and cordial" with both sides agreeing to keep the momentum of rapprochement in inter-Korean relations since the beginning of the year.

As a special envoy of Kim Jong Un, Kim Yo Jong delivered an invitation to Moon, inviting him to visit Pyongyang as the DPRK leader is willing to see a thaw in relations between the two Koreas.

Meanwhile, the DPRK media also lashed out at U.S. Vice President Mike Pence for his "anti-DPRK activities" when he was attending the opening ceremony, which Pyongyang said were aimed at disturbing the Olympics.
